AT NEWCASTLE!! can online at last…
Phew….. it’s been a few very eventful days…. I’ve finally made my way up from London to Newcastle…. gotten lost on the way to accomodations lugging my huge luggage by the way….(NOW I know why it’s called LUGgage….) Finally found my hall, and realised that I’ve found the courtyard! NOT the main entrance, which of course, is on the OTHER side… so I had to circle the building (which is loooooooooooooooooooong, and goes uphill…. figures…) Managed to get checked in, and was assigned a porter who is a TOTAL HUNK!!! I am in serious like with this guy…. *fluttters* Eye candy…. *chuckles*
Anyway, was given a tour around the building but was quite a blur to me now, given that I was so darn exhausted (and not to mention distracted… *ahem*) Went for another tour with a senior resident here. Met some people from other countries, which was really nice…. And then that night I slept like a log even though the mattress was sort of plastic-y and cold, with no covers and pillows, just a bare duvet…. The stuff was on it’s way by post… Had to use a t-shirt as a towel as well cause I forgot that I needed one for that night that I packed it all into the parcels to be posted…. *thumps head on desk*
Set off the next day bright and early, which will surprise a LOT of you who actually know me….. Ran around the uni getting lost and looking utterly pathetic… being blown about by the wind…. ( people weren’t joking when they told me about the Newcastle Wind… with a capital W…) I also went to all the information sessions for internation students… which was very informative. Met even MORE people from other coutnries…. got myself a ticket to york for tomorrow (*yay*) Will look for more info on the place later on so I’ll know where to go~!!
Anyway, runninng around for the past 3 days to get resigtered is really tiring…. I can’t get online until I have my student card, which explains my sudden dissapearance from the face of this virtual world for the past few days… Gotten lost at the city a few times, gotten lost in the university as well…. it’s really confusing!!
But I’m starting to get a hang of things.. (thank GOD!!) Had a VERY long walk with a new aquiantance from France around the city…. got lost again…. and just walked whereever we felt like it… It was fun…. even though it rained….
Had to go up and down and up and down the flights of stairs (I live on the top (fourth) floor…btw,) to get my computer connected…. Came back right after a long walk and ahopping… tried to get online… Couldn’t do it…. went down to the computer room (at the BASEMENT!! Go figure..) to ask for information…. was given pieces of paper with the settings… went backup to my room…. still couldn’t do it…. went back down with my computer…. saw TONNES of people there trying to get online as well…. waited around… saw that I forgot to bring my cable…. went back UP the stairs…. got that bloody thing…. went back down…. waited for somemore….. finally it was my turn and a guy (who is also a hunk, I must add…!!) tried setting it up. But for some particular reason, it doesn’t work….. so I was handed to another guy (the resident computer whiz??) and he managed to get my hooked in, had a nice little chat the with 3 there who were helping everyone with their computer….. Happily went back upstairs…. and the bloody thing STILL didn’t work… stomped back down to ask…. plugged this godamned thing and yahoo-ed… and the BLOODY thing worked…. Dragged my sorry ass back UP the stairs and here I am…. Anyhow, am very happy that I can go online now…
