~Another day in an insane mind~

The weather is turning…. it is now usually below 10 degrees c… PLUS the wind is horrendous…. I’m liking my room more and more now. Nice and warm….

Have to go do the laundry. *sigh* Bugger…

Feh~ And I thought it was windy when I first arrived here……… damnit…

The windy last week had been horrendous~!! Locals told me that it’s going to get worse when winter comes…. Last week’s wind was up to 38mph~!!!!! Great big honking trees were leaning from the sheer power of the gale…. *sigh* Not to mention the gawdawful NOISE the wind makes when we were in the class…. Sounded like someone was in pain…… No use brushing your hair… it gets messed up anyway.

Oh… I’ve managed to take a pic of the horsed policeman going past my window a few days ago. Haven’t uploaded it yet (from my phone) but will do so… soon? Heh~ at least, when I’m not too lazy to do so…..

Just had a moment of dejavu there…. here I am (again) sitting at my desk sipping tea (again) while I post some rambles and pointless thoughts (again…)… I’ve only been here for 4 weeks, but already I’m picking up the British obsession with tea.

Anyway, onto my main topic for this post…. as you can see from the title, it’s the continuation from last nights little post dinner ramble.

My plans for roasted chicken wings, salmon and poached veggies went perfectly~!!! *hummms in satisfaction* Nothing beats a good meal after a brain breaking day. Am contemplating the choc mousse again, but think I’ll skip that tonight.

I took a pic of the food just before I dug in tonight~! *grin* Why? Because I have an obsession with taking photos… (figured, why not?)

Enjoyed my meal while watching "whose line is it anyway’ on youtube. NOT a good idea folks…. unless you want to snort food out of your nose from time to time…..

Oh no… getting sleepy now…. it’s only 8 pm!!!

*chants to self* must not sleep… must not sleep….. must read notes for tomorrow’s lecture…. must not sleep……..

*looks at bed longingly….*

I blame this morning’s fire drill~!!!! *glares*

Why did I wake up at 8 when I could have slept till 9.30, you ask? Because of the fire drill………..

*sigh*

Couldn’t sleep last night, no idea why. Ended up nodding off at around 4, I think? I definately heard the clock strike 3. Then, what seemed to be waaaaayyy too soon there was this gawdawful noise blaring….. Made me practically JUMP out of bed before my brain clicked on to work. Heard doors banging outside and footsteps runnoing. Threw on a pair of jeans I have haning around and grabbing my jacket, phone and keys (NEARLY forgot that…. close call…. can be fined 25 GBP if I lock myself out….) and rushed down via the fire exit, which conviniently enough is right opposite my room.

Got out to the courtyard where the students from my wing were gathered. Gave our room number to the person in charge. All of use guessed that it was a fire drill, so we all lounged around chatting, looking all blurry eyed and sleepy, except for a scattering few who were already up and about. I talked to the girl who lives right next to me and discussed about the weather (rolls eyes…), x’mas and all that…. *grin*

Around 20 minutes after that we were shooed back into the building. I came back up to my room, but couldn’t sleep… rolled around in bed for around half and hour and gave up. So I got up to make breakfast.

Having eaten breakfast, I still have a bit of time to go before having to go to class…. which explains why I’m up in LJ this early (well… to ME at least… I do late well… early, no…) drinking tea, and trying to get my brain to work.

Decided to splurge a bit today and bought some salmon~! Really Gorgeous juicy salmon that was on sale in the foodhall where I usually buy some of my groceries. Have been dreaming about salmon (or fish, in general…. but particularly salmon).

Bought that, cleaned it and did a simple grill with olive oil, lemon, pepper and mixed herbs……

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooh yes…..

Managed NOT to overcook it as well~! *cheers*

Ate that with some pasta salad, and had chocolate mousse for desert~!!

Am still in foodie seventh heaven………..

*smacks lips*

Have some chicken wings in the fridge which I’ve marinated, ready for roast tomorrow….. Hmmm.. wonder what’s gotten into me? Usually couldn’t be bothered to cook much. Ah well…. eat well as long as this brief stint lasts….

Found out today during my lecture that I’ve prepared for the WRONG TOPIC~!! Bloody hell… There I was, all happy and excited to go to this lecture where I was for ONCE well prepared for…. copied down the powerpoints, read the important bits, googled for information… spent HOURs on all that stuff (managed to poke Shom while taking a break too~! *grins*)….. AND found out that the powerpoint that was on blackboard (the academic site for each individual student/staff that has everything in it, including the module documents and information) was for LAST YEAR’S~!! AND they’ve changed the lecturer this year so he’s talking about an entirely different sylibus~!! As Scrooge would say… "BAH HUMBUG"

I can’t believe the ONLY time I’m actually hardworking turned out to be an utter waste of time…. *sigh* as well… at least now I’m well read on that particular subject….

That’s not all…. after coming back from the lecture (which WAS very interesting, by the way…. ) I surfed around youtube trying to get some vid clips to amuse myself but just couldn’t get it to work! I have no idea why. It was working fine yesterday…. now, nil… nadda… niche… The clips just won’t show… so NOW I have to go the roundabout way of viewing it…. using the embeded vid’s address and cutting out all the html codes….

*sigh*

Also found out that the class I really wanted to go for as an audit has been denied me…. Was told that the class was overpopular and there’s no space available for non-credit bearing attandance…. I just don’t get it, since I’m only going to be sitting in the corner listening, NOT handing up work NOR taking up anyone’s time, how can there be a problem? But ah well…. can’t be helped…. All these on top of trying to sort my module selection choices which hadn’t been a problem to anyone else making the same choices but me…. emails bounced to and fro frantically… and NOW I still have no idea what went wrong, but it’s settled. I’m still choosing the same topics and it’s fine…..

These 2 days are really not my days….

Ack~!!

It was really funny seeing 2 policemen on horses in broad daylight yesterday…. Sorry, no photos…my phone was dead (I can see eye’s rolling there… yes yes… I know… I’ll change… maybe….) so missed that opportunity….

But good lord… those horses were HUGE!! A grey and a chestnut. Really really BIG horses…. both of them side by side taking up a whole car’s space on the road stopping behind the traffic light… *grins* was really funny seeing them following the traffic like any normal car would…. *double grins*

Oh… that reminded me of a day before yesterday…. saw one of those transport vehicales for the police… with a horse inside….. He poked his head out of the van while it was parked somewhere outside my school’s building, watching people going by….. I was fascinated… so was my friend. Apparently I’m NOT the only one who thought we were dreaming when that policeman on a horse came clipclopping by our windows a week or so ago…. *LOL*

Hmm…. Late for the first class of my Representation: Communication of Culture, Identity and Society class today…. I overslept…. *sigh* Was in all…. 1 hour late… Thank goodness I managed to sneak in just when the lecturer was out… Perfect timing~! *grin*

Yes… I can hear the sniggering from my ex-coursemates even from here…. *sigh* Hey, what can I say? I’m just NOT a morning person~!!! I think I really need a job with flexible times ~! *grin* Don’t particularly care what time u get there…. just as long as I can work x hours a day type of jobs…..
